Daniel Kersey Earns Florida Bar Board Certification in Construction Law

Smith Campbell is proud to announce that equity member Daniel Kersey has earned Board Certification in Construction Law from The Florida Bar, effective August 1, 2026.

This significant professional achievement places Daniel among a select group of Florida attorneys. Of the 97,865 attorneys currently eligible to practice law in the state, only 493 are Board Certified in Construction Law. Daniel is the only Board Certified Construction Law attorney based in Lake County.

What Does Board Certification Mean?

Board certification is not a distinction an attorney can simply claim. It recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated substantial involvement and specialized knowledge in their field.

To earn certification, an attorney must meet rigorous standards established by The Florida Bar, including:

  • Substantial involvement in the practice of construction law

  • Advanced continuing legal education

  • Favorable peer review

  • Satisfaction of professionalism and ethics requirements

  • Successful completion of a comprehensive written examination

Board-certified attorneys must also remain in good standing and continue meeting the standards necessary to maintain their certification.

Specialized Construction-Law Counsel, Available Locally

Daniel’s certification strengthens Smith Campbell’s ability to provide specialized construction-law counsel to contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, suppliers, and design professionals throughout Lake County, Sumter County, and Central Florida.

Construction disputes and legal concerns rarely exist in isolation. They are shaped by the project, the parties involved, Florida construction law, local business conditions, and the courts in which disputes are resolved. Daniel combines specialized construction-law knowledge with Smith Campbell’s established understanding of the local construction landscape and court system.

That local perspective allows our firm to provide practical counsel informed by both the law and the environment in which our clients operate.

A Well-Earned Achievement
